I just wanted to say that I watched Roger Rabbit that morning too and you're SO right. It's absolute class on celluloid and predates many similar projects that fell flat (Garfield the Movie springs to mind)BTW, the animation director, Richard Williams, wrote a very handy book called Animator's Survival Kit. I admit, I have occasionally smelled a good book now and then. :)

There was a fire in my town and one of my favorite bookstores had to close indefinitely due to water damage. I feel so sad whenever I pass by it. And all their books were damaged too, which honestly made me want to take all of those books home and care for them….even though I don't know how to repair water-damaged books.

Despair being sold at both Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

e-books sales are on the rise and the mainstream book reader is coughing out their money in this new market. Amazon Inc. is very aware of this, and this is why they came out with the Kindle e-book reader and the Kindle apps for the PC and mobile phones.

A new publishing industry is developing before our very own eyes, even as we speak.

    Regards,

    Omar.-

Omar, this was released on the 27th of Jan.

Amazon.com announced fourth-quarter financial results today, saying it hit two milestones: It had its first $10 billion quarter, and its Kindle book sales had overtaken paperback books as the most popular format on the giant bookseller’s site. Since the beginning of the year, it has sold 115 Kindle books for every 100 paperbacks sold (not including free books). During the busy holiday quarter, net income jumped eight percent to $416 million on a 36 percent increase in sales, compared with the previous year’s period. Revenues totaled $12.95 billion, which fell short of the $12.99 billion analysts were expecting, according to Thomson Reuters. ]]>

Great video. I feel the same way–I want to read more (reading is not a favorite pastime of mine), and I hope that a device like a Kindle will “make me” read more. Part of why I don’t read as much (another great point of yours) is that I’m too easily distracted by other favored pastimes (e.g. browsing net, watching videos, etc.) A book reader definitely lessens the options, which for people like me and you, is a good thing. Bottom line: I wonder if it has (made you more likely to read). Thanks!

Guy asks a question in a PRESS conference with only the press/his colleagues in the room – dozens laugh-mock him. They are laughing at him not with him. Why do people laugh in derision at someone else? Because they do believe it was something dumb or … if you will, idiotic. Who BETTER to judge a journalist than a roomful of other journalists? Further, I explain in great detail why they laughed and why others laugh. IT's as simple as that. He did his job poorly that day – we all do, he just happened to do it publically. Now, if just asked a dumb question in a room full of his colleagues, that's totally 100% excusable and I would've not have bothered to follow up but when he then wrote the column, it was clear he intended to ask that question all along AND then failed to apply that answer to enlighten us in any way instead, choosing to ignore or not understanding the bigger picture – again, either through his own lack of understanding or because he thought and his editor thought we weren't worthy of a real answer – in either case, idiotic. Idiotic the day of the incident. Idiotic today. It's fine you choose to defend his lackluster standards of journalism but it doesn't change anything. You keep repeating that asking a question makes him a fine journalist. I disagree with you 100%) ]]>

I love living my life vicariously through football players. Nothing like watching a bunch of steroid freaks that get paid more in a year than I will in 20 to make me feel like an American. Hmmmm, now that football season is over, whats the next distraction so I can take my mind off our disappearing constitutional rights??? Why be a free thinking individual, aware of my rights and liberties, when I can have an iPhone?! Yey corporate Amerika!
